Hey CRU, some important updates on CRU meeting tonight (changes) and Spring Break!

 

CRU meeting (Later start time tonight) – Due to a meeting in AMB 27 we will be starting CRU 1 hour later tonight. Only this week. Next week we’ll return to beginning at 7:30. However, tonight begins at 8:30.

 

Snow Ball – Is this Friday the 18^th !!! This is CRU’s semi-formal / dance party. It begins at 8 and lasts until midnight. $5 at the door. We are joining with Bridges International for this event. Location is Cherokee Mills (@ the corner of Concord and Sutherland Ave).

 

Spring Break – To guarantee your spot in Charleston we need you to sign up and register on the below link by Monday Feb 20^th. We are now requiring only a $30 deposit. Depending on where we are with registration on Feb 21^st we will begin a waiting list for any openings from Feb 21-March 1.

Sno Ball (Aka CRU’s Winter Semi-Formal) – Feb 18^th 8pm-midnight. Semi-formal attire (men this means you need to you tube how to tie a tie). Location Cherokee Mills at the corner of Sutherland and Concord near campus. More details to come.

 

Women’s Retreat- Feb 10,11,12 –University of Tennessee’s Women’s Retreat. Basically a weekend of fellowship and fun! Location: Horns Creek Location186 Hawkins Drive Ocoee, TN 37361

What to Bring

-Bible -PJs -Water bottle -Pen/Pencil/Journal

-Clothes and tennis shoes to play outdoor games in

-Bath towel, Bed sheets, pillow and blanket are provided but if you like, bring an extra blanket or sleeping bag to insure comfort.

T-shirts – If you are wanting a t-shirt they are $15. Long sleeve. You can view them on the facebook event site.

Freshmen – bring some kind of beverage to share (ie 2 liter, gallon tea or lemonade)

Sophomores – Something Salty aka NOT sweet to share

Juniors – A dessert to share

Seniors – Fruits or Veggies

Directions DO NOT USE YOUR GPS! The camp has told us that most people get lost because the GPS is inaccurate. Please follow these directions:

From Knoxville, TN (94 mi.) 1-75 south, take the exit for the Cleveland By-pass (Exit 20). At intersection turn left and travel on bypass for 6 miles to the Ocoee exit (Hwy. 64 East) Take Hwy 64 east and travel 10 miles (cross over Hwy 411). At the next gas station on the right (Cherokee Corner) turn right onto Cookson Creek Road. Proceed 2.5 miles until you see the Horn ’s Creek sign on your right. At the sign turn right onto Sloan’s Gap Road. Follow this road for one mile to the next Horn’s Creek sign and turn left onto Hawkins Drive. Follow signs to the Office.

Arrive at cabins on Friday between 5-6. Be sure to eat dinner BEFORE you get there. We’ll leave by noon on Sunday.

Manmaker -CRU’s Annual Men’s Retreat. What does it mean to be a man in today’s culture? Every man longs for something more in this life. Come help us wrestle with what the characteristics of a Godly man is and how we are to live out this life in light of the Cross. Also… Man Challenges, Ceremony (war paint involved), UT basketball, and other surprises and manly stuff…

What to know:  Price: $60 (Includes everything except dinner friday night. It is on your own)

What to bring: sleeping bag, pillow, good knife, towel, Bible, pen, notebook for note taking, warm clothes, outdoor clothes (get dirty clothes), open heart, orange bandanna (except freshmen). Also, any other cutting tools & crafting tools might be helpful aka (camp axe, hatchet, file, multi-tool, saw, bayonet, sword, ninja star,etc)

Worship Tryouts – Heads up… if you can sing or are fluent on an instrument and you have a worshipful heart, we will be hosting tryouts and applications to help with CRU worship. Look for more details soon.

 

Spring Break – IMPORTANT !!!!!  We just realized that we are asking you all to pay for men’s or women’s retreats and then pay a half deposit for Spring Break one week later. To help out financially we’ve changed the deposit requirements. We now are asking you to 1) register on the link below by Feb 20^th and 2) Pay at least $30. The remaining will be due by March 15^th at midnight.

Also, note… space is LIMITED and due to our contract with the hotel we have to be firm on numbers by March 1. So , do drag your feet.
